Department of Human Welfare, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences

Master’s Course—Two Years

Students study a balance of basic theory, policies/systems/services, and social work.


The aims of this course are:

  • 1. Development of professionals (leaders in welfare) with high levels of expertise and practical skills.
  • 2. Preparation of master’s theses.

Students who complete the Master’s Course (two years) are awarded a master’s degree in Human Welfare.

Doctoral Course—Three Years

Students deepen their research in order to become researchers or experts who are highly capable and knowledgeable.


The aims of this course are:

  • 1. Development of researchers who have advanced research capabilities.
  • 2. Development of professionals (leaders in welfare) with high levels of expertise and practical skills.
  • 3. Preparation of doctoral theses.

Students who complete the Doctoral Course (three years) and pass the thesis review are awarded a Ph.D. in Human Welfare.



Department of Nursing, Graduate School of Nursing

Consists of two courses: Researcher Course and Specialist Nursing (Certified Nurse Specialist) Course


[Doctoral Course First Semester]

Researcher Course

Aimed at nurturing individuals that can respond to the ever- diversifying/complex needs of people and provide the best nursing care possible while also developing the basic skills of a researcher and educator.

  • (1) Nurture individuals with the basic skills to conduct research with the aim of providing nursing care that meets the ever changing needs of society.
  • (2) Nurture individuals who understand and can demonstrate the educational role of a nursing professional.
Specialist Nursing (Certified Nurse Specialist) Course
Psychiatric Nursing/Aged Nursing/Disaster Nursing

Aimed at nurturing individuals that can respond to the ever- diversifying/complex needs of people and provide the best nursing care possible while also developing advanced practical skills.

  • (1) Nurture individuals with a global perspective who have acquired advanced specialist knowledge and skills in order to maintain people’s lifestyles and health.
  • (2) Nurture individuals who can train nurses and students in a practical environment and can work together with people of various occupations.
    *The university will be applying for certification of this course as an advanced practice nurse course.

[Doctoral Course Second Semester]

Aimed at nurturing the following types of researchers and educators who can contribute to the development of nursing practice and nursing.

  • (1) Nurture individuals with advanced research skills who can contribute to nursing practice to respond to the needs of people and society, and the development and restructuring of social systems.
  • (2) Nurture individuals with an interdisciplinary and global perspective who can contribute to research and education.
